Happy Birthday… To Me!

Childrens Elephant Cake Happy Birthday to me!!!

Today is my 27th Birthday, and I thought that this would be the most perfect cake for the celebration. This is an actual picture of an actual cake sold at The Pink Cake Box in Denville NJ, not too far from where I live. Oh, how I would love a cake like this one… (that is what we call a hint)

So far, my birthday has been kinda blah. It is still raining (it has been storming since Saturday night, when our side fence was blown over by the wind) and it doesn’t look like it is going to stop anytime soon. I woke up early this morning and went to the gym, where I spent way too much time on the treadmill watching Martha. Then I had a PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) class, which I got very lost getting to. After making 2 U-Turns, I finally admitted defeat and called my job for directions.

So to make my day better, I figured that I would surround myself with books. I can’t think of any better way to spend my day. So I went to Barnes and Noble in Paramus. Well, it was absolutely packed! There was standing room only! I know what your thinking, but no, there wasn’t a sudden movement towards reading more. Apparently the storm knocked out many people’s internet, phone, TV, and flooded just about everything else. So everyone came to Barnes and Noble to have internet access and electricity. So I waited in an incredibly long line to buy my books and then I left for Starbucks, where at least I can sit down with a nice cup of something warm and read my book.

Well, that was what I thought I would be able to do at least. So when I go to Starbucks, there was a sign on the door stating that “due to a water main break in Paramus, we are only serving drip coffee”. I should have turned around right then and there and left, but I really wanted this day to get better, so I roughed it out with hope that things probably couldn’t get any worse. Apparently they were brewing coffee at another Starbucks just so people could get their “fix”. So I got a (lukewarm) cup of coffee and sat down to read my book.

I was going to go get a mani/pedi after that, but my husband informed me that the road to get to my nail salon was flooded. So i came home, changed into the most comfortable pair of pants that I own, and put in a load of laundry. I know when to admit defeat…
